Along with a caravan of hometown musicians, Nemo is set to bring the Loft junkies rhymes galore. Don’t let the Kentucky bit throw you for a loop. Lexington’s own prodigal son, Nemo is a purveyor of good ol’ slow cooked hip-hop, and he’s offering generous servings of it tonight. His latest EP, Goodbye Brooklyn is a cinematic reference to his 7 month stint in the big city, and we’ve had it on rotation at the Loft since summer (by the time you read this his latest mixtape Nemotional will also be available for your listening pleasure). On this night, the hometown hero proves wherever he lays his hat is home, showing us how an outta towner gives it up, with earnest lyricism and warm homegrown instrumentals courtesy of his band of brothers. The show hits a high note when surprise guest and producer extraordinaire 88-Keys borrows the mic to announce Nemo’s recent signing to his Locksmith Music label! On that note, we party on…
Once the partying dies down, and the crew makes a much needed burger run to Johnny Rocket’s, The Loft lives up to its flop house reputation. If my count is correct, we had about 10 new overnight guests including Nemo, his band, and a couple of fair maidens who had a bit too much to drink. The next day would lead to a proper sit-down interview, while Nemo got the barber treatment, all before we headed out for a Mexican feast at a hole-in-the-wall eatery somewhere in Jersey City Heights. Another day in the life, another life in the day. This is Live At The Loft…
