Before you’ve even had a chance to miss us too much, the Live At The Loft kids are back, bangin’ in your residential district. This episode is for the lover in you. We’ve invited soul singer Jesse Boykins III, along with his band The Beauty Created, to belt out a few notes and get the ladies in a tizzy. Word must have travelled fast, because somehow +1’s became +2’s and 3’s, and we’ve got a capacity crowd on our hands. The flatfoot cops are eyeballing the scene, and it’s time to shuffle everyone inside. We’ve enlisted LA’s own DJ Joe Kay to spin the platters with some soulful beats and melodies. To further soothe our anxieties, one guest (Jen Diaz) came with a tray of homemade rice pudding…epic win! Let’s get kinetic…

We’ve been following Jesse’s footprints for a couple of years now, and it seems this is the opportune time to bring his talents to the forefront. With his silken vocals, signature songwriting, and style to spare, he’s already being mentioned among some of the great soul crooners. Song after song, his notes wash through the Loft, until finally he pulls a lucky young lovely from the crowd for an intimate serenade. I hear something about sliding off pantyhose. Showmanship is in abundance and I spot several nods of approval in Jesse’s direction from the evening’s blushing beauties.

Shortly after the performance, we retreat to the glow of the streetlights again to chat about, what else…the ladies. We get some insight on what it’s like to build a career as an independent musician and Jesse lets us know why Rosario Dawson gets his blood pumping. By this time, all of the lovemakers have escaped to their respective quarters, Joe Kay is making it happen for the beat heads, and we’re kind of feeling like we just knocked another one out of the park.
